Job Summary

The position of Manager ECD Program is based in Karachi and will be reporting to Head of Operations and the Chairperson of the Aga Khan Education Board for Pakistan (AKEB, P). The incumbent will be responsible to manage ECD programs and provide technical and operational support in the implementation of the programs, specifically Parwaaz and Parwaaz Plus.  In liaison with volunteers at regional and local levels, Manager ECD will ensure that the program is planned and implemented as per the AKEB’s vision and aspiration as well as is aligned with the overall AKDN strategy. 

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical input in designing and planning innovative programs that are efficient, effective and contextually relevant for various ages within the early childhood groups (Prenatal – 6 months, 6 mo. – 3 years; 3-6 years)
  • Prepare concept papers on potential initiatives and contribute in writing proposals when required. Act as a liaison between all community, AKDN and other agencies concerned with ECD (AKES, P, AKU, AKHS, P, ITREB, etc.)
  • Lead and manage ECD related activities in Community areas and ensure that they are run in accordance with the vision and mandate of Aga Khan Education Board (AKEB). 
  • Prepare strategic plan for ECD program implementation with main focus on effective utilization of human and material resources, coordination with institution as well as AKDN agencies and community engagement. Regular review and revision of training programs, manuals and plans as appropriate  
  • Provide field support mechanism and teaching standards Visit the regions on regular basis to monitor the progress of the interventions and provide technical support for further improvement of the program.
  •  Identify potential human resource as ECD facilitator and develop their capacity on regular basis for program planning, training delivery and program evaluation.
  • Collect and compile program related data, lesson learned and success stories for internal usage and dissemination where and when required.
  • Represent AKEB in forums and thematic working groups etc. with AKDN agencies, civil society organizations and community institutions.
  • Assess and evaluate the impact of ECD program on students and parents/caregivers and realign the program accordingly.
  • Ensure timely and regular reports to the supervisor and maintain a channel of communication specifically on issue which present potential impacts on AKEB initiatives.
  • Carry out relevant duty assigned by supervisor/board member.
  • The incumbent has travel to the region as per requirement and the work plan.

Required Skills

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Education or any other social science preferably in Early Childhood Development (ECD)
  • At least 4 - 5 years’ experience of working with national or international well reputed institution in the field of ECD.
  • Ability in program design, planning, execution and its evaluation.
  • Good command over Urdu &English languages  
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as a part of a team.
  • Proficient in computer applications
