Job Summary

Job Description:
This is a role designed for an individual with proven leadership skills who can think strategically and
execute in a volunteer based community environment. The position will be responsible for
conceptualizing of, and implementation of various Institution programs/ initiatives (both existing and
new) with the support of existing and potential partner institutions as well as creating a mechanism to
ensure the quality of programs through supervision and support.


Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and support for a wide range of programs / initiatives as well as leveraging upon
existing and potential partners by working closely with the Management.

  • Define and develop the annual objectives and strategies (O&S) of the Institution together with the budget and plans for implementation, monitoring, and reporting;
  • Define and develop a communication strategy for ongoing and new programs;
  • Increase the current outreach by leveraging upon existing as well as new partners;
  • Closely supervise and manage the implementation of current and planned programs / initiatives of the Institution through staff and local volunteers;
  • Engage with the Management, key volunteers and stakeholders to assess the extent to which Institution programs / initiatives respond to the needs of the community;
  • Effectively use the monitoring and evaluation system to regularly assess program quality and responsiveness;
  • Plan and coordinate regular meetings with relevant stakeholders within the Institution and other network and community Institution on areas of common interest;
  • Represent the Institution in all the meetings involving policy makers and act as a focal point for all Institution communication;
  • Provide leadership to all the staff reporting to this position;
  • Work with and train the volunteers and staff to equip them with requisite understanding of programs and skills required for quality implementation, monitoring and evaluation;
  • Introduce and supervise the staff performance analysis mechanism to set individual performance targets and evaluate their achievement;
  • Undertake team building and conflict transformation initiatives for a conducive and effective work environment.

Required Skills

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Management / Public Administration/ Social development / Economics or
  • other relevant disciplines. Professional training in Organizational Development and Management will be a plus;  
  • 5-7 years’ experience of working in a senior management position in social, public or corporate sector.
  • Strong motivational and leadership skills, very strong organizational and critical thinking skills;
  • Detail-oriented and able to effectively handle multiple priorities;
  • Interpersonal skills; ability to work well in teams, successfully interact with people from diverse cultures and socio-economic backgrounds and strong commitment to meet agreed dead-lines;
  • Problem solving skills and willingness to work around obstacles both internal and external and with volunteers.
  • Ability to interact and work effectively and productively with volunteers / staff all levels of the organization; 
  • Fluency in English and Urdu. Knowledge of other Pakistani languages is a plus;
  • Very strong writing and presentation skills in English;
  • Fair competence and comfort level with use of computers and basic internet applications;
  • Willingness to travel extensively across Pakistan;
  • Should be able to continuously review and upscale the management structure that meets the institutional requirements.
  • Strong understanding of and respect for social ethics and other core values of the Institution including equality, fairness, diversity, voice, creativity, humility and respect; and
  • Willingness to work on any additional task as assigned by the Management

Work Environment:
The Head of Operations has access to confidential information and beneficiary records and is
responsible for maintaining this information as confidential. This is a 6 days (Monday – Saturday) full-
time position, with occasional evening and weekend work.
