Job Summary

A Community Institution is looking for potential candidates to fill the position of Communications Officer. As per the guidelines the Communications Officer will work in close coordination with the Sr. Manager Communications to support in planning, implementing, monitoring and reporting communication activities (internal and external) at Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral (GBC) regions.

  • Work closely with the Regional and local teams/volunteers in developing communication materials for GBC regions.
  • Assist in planning and executing the communication activities at regional/local council levels.
  • Coordinate and follow-up with institutions for timely submission of event reports.
  • Report activities of AKDN and Community institutions regularly.
  • Frequent field visits to projects for gathering information and capturing impact stories through photos/videos.
  • Draft write-ups, case studies, success stories, articles and testimonials for online, digital and print publication
  • Ensure timely and maximum distribution of print publications at regional and local council levels.
  • Maintain archive of digital assets including, videos, photos and media clippings.
  • Ensure maximum utilization of AV-Kits and timely distribution of video content for video screening in Community Centers.
  • Compile and submit video screening report after the viewing session.
  • Monitor local/regional print, electronic and social media news channels on daily basis.
  • Develop strong media relations with local/regional print and electronic media groups.
  • In case of any crisis, report and brief the national team in a timely manner.
  • Provide administrative support and find solutions for the smooth functioning of the communication activities.
  • Maintain database of local resources including professionals/volunteers including writers, photographers, videographers, filmmakers etc.

Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Mass Communication) and or relevant experience.
  • At least 2 years of working experience in social, public or corporate sector.
  • Good inter-personal communication skills.
  • Command over English and Urdu language with understanding of written and spoken language.
  • Self-learner with a passion for crafting stories through various communication channels
  • Possess basic knowledge about the use of computers, graphic software and basic internet applications.
  • Be able to work with various internal and external stakeholders and with volunteers.
  • Be able to multi-task, organize work and co-ordinate with immediate supervisor on various programs.
