Job Summary

The incumbent will be responsible to assist the Superintendent in providing pastoral care to the boarders’ students who are of different age groups. S/he will be responsible to manage and supervise day-to-day chores of the boarders and smooth operations of the academy under the supervision of Superintendent. S/he will also be responsible to ensure the quality living and well-being of all the boarders through provision of healthy nutritional food, monitoring academic progress and providing a safe, clean and happy environment.

The key responsibilities are as under.

  • Assist Superintendent in providing pastoral care to the boarders’ students.
  • Create a safe and comfortable living on academy for boarders, (a home away from home).
  • Implement SOPs, code of conduct and necessary policies with respect to the boarders and enforce discipline and code of conduct in the academy accordingly.
  • Pay particular attention to students under the age of 10, ensuring that they are in their rooms after attending school and play time, properly attending tuition, comfortable in their rooms with the students of higher class etc.
  • Ensure the personal hygiene and cleanliness of all boarders
  • Wake up the students for morning prayer and school.
  • Attend regularly with the boarders to ensure that all ceremonies are carried out smoothly.
  • Ensure that all students are clean and well-dressed when going to school.
  • Pick boarders’ students from school when school get off.
  • Monitor and look after children at the time of playing and cocurricular activities.
  • Supervise the work of cleaning & kitchen staff to ensure the smooth running of the academy.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and cleaning inside the academy.
  • Responsible for carrying out regular rooms check for cleanliness, safety and to ensure discipline.
  • Ensure safety and security of all boarders.
  • Strict discipline and avoids corporal punishment and harassment in academy.
  • Take a regular round of the entire campus of boarding.
  • Looks after the quality of food served to the boarders in academies.
  • Bring to the attention of the Superintendent for any unusual activities, events timely.
  • Timely report to the Superintendent about any emergency, indiscipline, sickness or any other issue in academy.   
  • Coordinate with the LHV for any emergency first aid and make proper arrangement for any refer case.
  • Liaison with REC teachers to ensure that  boarders are participating in the religious education.
  • Assist Superintendent to follow up with the parents for any outstanding fees as per list provided by IYS office.

Required Skills
  • Metric/FA with minimum 03 years or BA with minimum 1 year of relevant experience preferably in reputed educational institution or hostels as supervisor/Warden and in handling emotional, psychological issues of students. Attended training, such as first aid or safeguarding training would be added advantage.
  • Be empathetic and patient.
  • Very good communication skills.
  • Mature and passionate about students and education.
  • Committed and responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young adults.
